Esco Beach Bar Lounge & Restaurant

Beer with a view at Esco Beach

A cold beer and a nice sunset already make for an excellent location, but if you want to take it up a notch, Esco Beach is the perfect spot. This restaurant (plus bar plus lounge) is located right on the beach, so you can enjoy amazing views while you eat. The menu is packed – pizza, sandwiches, pasta, and other western style dishes, along with some local favorites. You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose, really. We know. We’ve tried more than a few! The place can get a bit rowdy on weekends though, with families taking very energetic kids to the infinity pools, but otherwise, it’s probably the best place in Danang to enjoy a few sundowners.

Happy Heart Cafe

Who knew deaf people couldn’t hear me shouting? Certainly not I. But damn, the food was delicious.

“Where everyone is valued!”. I should have known this before my first visit, to avoid the embarrassment of trying to get the attention of one of the waitstaff. He was hearing impaired. I didn’t know, so I just kept raising my voice. Embarrassing? Yes. Worth it? For this story, maybe. Regardless, Happy Heart serves a great breakfast, and I kept coming back, now armed with the knowledge that everyone there is awesome. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, with plenty of seating indoors and out. It’s not hard to see why this place is always busy.

Gordon’s New York Pizza & Craft Beer

These garlic knots are worth ordering by themselves

Gordon’s is a bit of a pizza institution in Danang. It’s been around for a few years and has the perfect mix of local and international clientele. The pizza is, quite simply, some of the best you’ll find in Asia. No lie! The crust is just the right combination of chewy and crispy, the sauce is flavorful without being too acidic, and the toppings are very well balanced. Dare I say it? It’s better than pizzas actually made in New York. They’ve got a well stocked beer fridge (like VERY WELL STOCKED), and the staff are super knowledgeable about their menu. Plus, it’s a great place to people watch.

Bep Hen Restaurant

This almost makes me wish they had a few branches in other cities. But glad they’re local to Danang.

Vietnam kitsch from yesteryear, walls adorned with communist paraphernalia, old TVs, and authentic homestyle Vietnamese food combine for arguably the best local dining experience in Danang. Bep Hen’s menu is extensive and includes some lesser known dishes that are absolutely delicious. If you’re looking to try something other than garlic morning glory (or just check out the cool décor), mark this down on your itinerary.

Khong Vegan Kitchen

I’m not vegan, but this place is making me question my life choices

They should have a tag-line that goes somewhere along the lines of “Khong will make you forget bacon exists”. Because it’s that good. I absolutely love my dead animals, but this little vegan kitchen is killing it. They have a constantly rotating menu of unique, modern takes on Vietnamese classics, all without a drop of meat or dairy. The flavors are off the charts and the presentation is downright Instagrammable. It’s family run as well, and the owner is almost always on site. If you’re looking for something different (and delicious), Khong Vegan Kitchen should be at the top of your list.

Burger Bros

Great burgers, and a great place to sit down and enjoy a few beers as well!

As with curry, and pasta, the Japanese have successfully reinvented the burger. In fact, they’ve made it better. The menu is simple – burgers, fries, and drinks – but man oh man, are they good! I’ve never had burgers made so well that I’ve gone to the same place for both lunch and dinner, but Burger Bros exists, and here we are feeling both ashamed and satisfied. The patties are made fresh and cooked perfectly, the buns are fluffy but not too dense, and the fries are crispy. Cold Sapporos in the fridge, goes really well with the set meal. Try the double patty burger, it’s worth popping your diet.

Conclusion

These are just a few of the best restaurants in Danang that you absolutely should not miss. With a mix of local and international cuisine, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and explore!
